Sharia Banking and other Questions
Hi Ali Sina,
- What are your views about Zakat? Why did Muhammad introduce Zakat in his religion?
Zakat allowed Muhammad to collect money from his followers.
- Islamists claim that Sharia banking is the best and very essential for today’s economy since capitalism has been responsible for losses and recession. So, how does Islamic banking affect the world?
Sharia banking is capitalism. The only difference is that they call it something else. Instead of you owning your house and owing money to the bank, the bank becomes your partner and as you pay your mortgage, you buy the banks share every month. It is in no way different from the system we have, except in name. Of course part of the money has to go to Islamic “charity”, which will finance Jihad.
3. Did Muhammad have sex with his aunt Khaula bint Hakim?
Khaula bint Hakim was not an aunt of Muhammad. She offered herself to Muhammad as per the following hadith:
Narrated Hisham’s father: Khaula bint Hakim was one of those ladies who presented themselves to the Prophet for marriage. ‘Aisha said. “Doesn’t a lady feel ashamed for presenting herself to a man?” But when the Verse: “(O Muhammad) You may postpone (the turn of) any of them (your wives) that you please.’ (33.51) was revealed. ” ‘Aisha said. ‘O Allah’s Apostle! I do not see. but. that your Lord hurries in pleasing you.’ ” Volume 7. Book 62. Number 48
However another hadith says she was an aunt of Muhammad. This hadith cannot be true. Had she been an aunt of Muhammad she would not have offered herself to him. Also she was the daughter of Hakim. Muhammad’s grandfathers were Abdul Muttalib and Whab. So clearly this is a mistake.
There were two Khawlah Bint Hakims. One is al-Salamiah and the other al – Ansaryya. The former was the wife of U’thman Bin Math’oon. One hadith says she was the person who offered herself to Muhammad and Tabari says it was al Ansaryyah who did it. Neither one could have been an aunt of Muhammad. However, Khawlah means aunt. Maybe that is the source of confusion.
- Also, why can’t you start a website like IslamQA (by the critical side) to answer questions and doubts raised by both Muslims and non-Muslims?
There is a section called Q&A in alisina.org
