Accepting Jesus? What about the Bible?
Fifi is a young lady born to a Muslim family who has left Islam. In our email exchanges I told her that I have accepted Jesus. She ask me about it and I’d like to publish my reply to her here.
As I’ve told you before, I believe in Jesus now. But your sentence “I accepted Jesus a year ago” keep bothering my mind. The word “accept” sounds very strong. Do you mind to share your experiences about this? Or maybe sharing articles that you ever written about your experience.
I wonder, because I feel like there’s still something missing in my faith about Him right now. I don’t mean that I’m not totally believing, but I just feel that I have to reach Him closer and have no idea what’s missing in me.
I am a seeker. The more I learn the more I discover my ignorance. So I am never satisfied with what I learn as the answer to one question leads to multiple new questions. The result is that the more I learn the more I come to see how much I don’t know.
In my search I came to learn some spiritual truths, mostly through quantum physics, such as the reality being the result of thought. Quantum physics tells us that the reality we see out there comes only to exist because of a conscious mind observing it. Without consciousness particles are just wave. It is the conscious mind of an observer that gives this wave form and transforms it into particle. Without particles the universe cannot exist. So the universe is the product of thought. Thoughts are the foundation of the world.
Now it took centuries of research and countless souls to come to this realization. After learning this I realized that Jesus was already aware of it. Here is one example. In Matthew 5:27 Jesus says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘you shall not commit adultery’; but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Now this sound quite simple and even counterintuitive. How can just thinking of a sin be the same as doing it? Certainly no one is considered guilty for just thinking of committing a crime. Would God punish someone for thinking of a sin, even if he never commits it?
As long as one is unaware of the laws governing the world, one can say what Jesus said makes no sense. But once you become familiar with quantum physics you realize he knew something that we did not know until very recently. Thoughts create reality. If you think of something long enough, eventually that thing will manifest itself. It is like sowing a seed. You see nothing but the seed remains buried until it germinates and a tree grows from it.
So if you have thoughts of adultery, you are sowing the seed of adultery in your mind (heart). If you have saintly thoughts, thoughts of service, of kindness, of success, of happiness, of health, or of wealth, and keep those thoughts until they become part of your subconscious mind, they will eventually manifest themselves in the physical realm. If we hold any thought, long enough to enter our sub-conscious, it will become a reality.
That is the secret of thought. Thoughts are seeds of reality. Now, Jesus knew that, something most people even today don’t know. That is just one example.
Another example that tells me Jesus was not just an ordinary smart man is when the Pharisees brought a prostitute to him asking him what he suggests they should do to her. It is not that they actually wanted his opinion. They just wanted him to say something so they can humiliate him. The law of adultery in the Old Testament is death by stoning. Jews however were smart enough to not practice this barbaric law. They said among themselves, let us go to Jesus and see what he says. If he says follow the law, we will then denounce him for his inhumanity and if he says let her go, we will then tell everyone he is going against the law. With that in mind and certain of their success in humiliating Jesus they came to him, but what Jesus said changed everything. With just a few words he saved that woman and humiliated her accusers. He said, let the person who has not committed sin throw the first stone. The mob felt ashamed and left one by one leaving Jesus and the prostitute standing there alone. He asked, is there no one left to accuse you? “No one!” said the woman. “I too won’t accuse you. Go and sin no more!” said Jesus to her.
Some people say that prostitute was Mary Magdalene, who was so transformed that became a saint. The bible does not give the identity of that prostitute but that story is enough to see Jesus was not an ordinary man. There are many other cases that make me realize, Jesus possessed some spiritual insight that most people don’t have. Based on these and also the stories of the near death experiencers, , including Muslims, who say they met Jesus in the other world I now accept Jesus.
However, there is an important caveat that I must make. I do not consider the Bible as the word of God. That book contains so much contradictions and asininities that can very well mislead people instead of guiding them. Let me give you one example among many. It is Genesis chapter 20.
Abraham and Abimelek
20 Now Abraham moved on from there into the region of the Negev and lived between Kadesh and Shur. For a while he stayed in Gerar, 2 and there Abraham said of his wife Sarah, “She is my sister.” Then Abimelek king of Gerar sent for Sarah and took her.
3 But God came to Abimelek in a dream one night and said to him, “You are as good as dead because of the woman you have taken; she is a married woman.”
4 Now Abimelek had not gone near her, so he said, “Lord, will you destroy an innocent nation? 5 Did he not say to me, ‘She is my sister,’ and didn’t she also say, ‘He is my brother’? I have done this with a clear conscience and clean hands.”
6 Then God said to him in the dream, “Yes, I know you did this with a clear conscience, and so I have kept you from sinning against me. That is why I did not let you touch her. 7 Now return the man’s wife, for he is a prophet, and he will pray for you and you will live. But if you do not return her, you may be sure that you and all who belong to you will die.”
8 Early the next morning Abimelek summoned all his officials, and when he told them all that had happened, they were very much afraid. 9 Then Abimelek called Abraham in and said, “What have you done to us? How have I wronged you that you have brought such great guilt upon me and my kingdom? You have done things to me that should never be done.” 10 And Abimelek asked Abraham, “What was your reason for doing this?”
11 Abraham replied, “I said to myself, ‘There is surely no fear of God in this place, and they will kill me because of my wife.’ 12 Besides, she really is my sister, the daughter of my father though not of my mother; and she became my wife. 13 And when God had me wander from my father’s household, I said to her, ‘This is how you can show your love to me: Everywhere we go, say of me, “He is my brother.”’”
14 Then Abimelek brought sheep and cattle and male and female slaves and gave them to Abraham, and he returned Sarah his wife to him. 15 And Abimelek said, “My land is before you; live wherever you like.”
16 To Sarah he said, “I am giving your brother a thousand shekels of silver. This is to cover the offense against you before all who are with you; you are completely vindicated.”
17 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelek, his wife and his female slaves so they could have children again, 18 for the Lord had kept all the women in Abimelek’s household from conceiving because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.
This is the story of a man called prophet of God, much loved and respected by all three desert religions. He married his half-sister. In this day and age we call that incest. He then lied to Abimelek telling him Sara is his sister just to save his life. It does not matter if his wife commits adultery, as long as his life is not put in any peril. So Abimelek who had no idea, that Sara was a married woman marries her. Then God threatens to destroy his innocent nation if he touches her. Wow! Isn’t that a bit heavy-handed? An entire nation should perish because of that? And what was Abimelek’s sin? He was lied to and deceived by Abraham this incestuous holy prophet of God. Even then we see the moral superiority of Abimelek to Abraham and his god who instead of punishing him gave him generous gifts and let him and his wife go.
Another story of incest, of God and his prophet’s ruthlessness, injustice and stupidity, is the chapter preceding the one above. There we read that two angels of God came to visit the Prophet Lot, an uncle of Abraham, But the homosexual people of Sodom wanted to have sex with them. Lot hides them in his house and then goes out offering his virgin daughters to the men instead. But these men were gay and wanted to have sex with the angels. So the angels help lot and his relatives escape and then God sends meteorites to the town killing everyone. Lot’s wife looks back to see what is happening and God turns her into salt. Then the daughters of Lot ply their father with wine and take turn to have sex with him, each bearing a son who became the progenitor of a nation.
The Bible is full of filth like this. It is not the word of God. Saying that it is will only turn people away from God. So be careful when you read the Bible. That book is a book of fables written by ancient people. Moses probably never existed. The five books attributed to him tell us also about his death and the fact that his tomb is lost. How can Moses have said suh thing about himself? It is clear that the Pentateuch was written centuries after Moses, if such a person existed at all.
Even the New Testament is written decades after the death of Jesus. Much of the stories attribute to Jesus are taken from previous pagan stories.
Think of the Bible as a gold mine. It means much of it is plain dirt. I did not discover Jesus through the Bible. In fact this book will lead any rational person to atheism. I don’t say you shouldn’t read it. There is truth and beauty in it, but be careful for most of it is garbage. A rich gold mine may have only a few grams of gold in a ton of ore. The same is true in the Bible. And I am not going to even talk about the stupidity of the tale of creation and how unscientific and ridiculous it is. That is the reason I do not call myself a Christian. I love Jesus. Despite being shrouded in so much nonsense, he still shines, like a gold nugget buried in dirt. Just as you need to have an expert eye to recognize gold in a rock, you need to have spiritual eyes to find the real Jesus in the Bible. I found Jesus despite the Bible and not because of it.

Truth of the spiritual world transcends reason, but never contradicts it. If anyone tries to sell you an idea that you find irrational, reject it for it is not from God.
