Seven Layers of Heaven

Harun Yahya, had published the following article on his site.  After I clarified his error, he removed it.  However, there are still other Islamic sites that show this article.

The Layers of the Atmosphere

One fact about the universe revealed in the verses of the Qur’an is that the sky is made up of seven layers.

“It is He Who created everything on the earth for you and then directed His attention up to heaven and arranged it into seven regular heavens. He has knowledge of all things.”
(The Qur’an, 2:29)

“Then He turned to heaven when it was smoke. In two days He determined them as seven heavens and revealed, in every heaven, its own mandate.”
(The Qur’an, 41:12)

The word “heavens”, which appears in many verses in the Qur’an, is used to refer to the sky above the Earth, as well as the entire universe. Given this meaning of the word, it is seen that the Earth’s sky, or the atmosphere, is made up of seven layers.

earth's atmospherThe Earth has all the attributes that are needed for life. One of them is the atmosphere, which serves as a shield protecting living things. Today, it is an established fact that the atmosphere is made up of different layers lying on top of one another. Just as it is described in the Qur’an, the atmosphere is made up of exactly seven layers. This is certainly one of the miracles of the Qur’an.

Indeed, today it is known that the world’s atmosphere consists of different layers that lie on top of each other. Furthermore, it consists, just as is described in the Qur’an, of exactly seven layers. In a scientific source, the subject is described as follows:

Layers of atmospher 14 centuries ago, when the sky was believed to be one unified body, the Qur’an  miraculously  stated  that it consisted of layers, and what is more, “seven” layers. Modern science, on the other hand, discovered the fact that the atmosphere surrounding the Earth is made up of “seven” basic layers only very recently.

The Truth About 7 Layers of Heaven

The pre Copernican concept of the universe was geocentric, i.e. they thought that the Earth was flat and was located at the center of the universe. They believed that the Sun and the Moon along with Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury that made the seven known objects of the heaven were deities. These were the only objects people could observe with their naked eyes moving in the sky while the stars appeared to be fix.

layers of heaven

They believed that these planets or “gods” each had its own sphere. These layers are not the same as the orbits that we know. The planets did not orbit the Sun but they all revolved around the flat Earth in this order:

Moon
Mercury

Venus
Sun
Mars
Jupiter
Saturn

The closest to the Earth was the Moon and the farthest, was  the Saturn. Therefore the concept of the 7 layers of heaven is based on ancient astronomy, where each celestial body occupied a crystal sphere one placed on top of the other like layers of an onion. .

Both Judaism and Christianity make reference to these layers of heaven. For example Dante in his Divina Comedia refers to it and Paul the apostle, in 2 Corinthians 12:2 says: “I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know–God knows.”

The heaven was the physical world above. The concept of a spiritual heaven is a new concept. In the mind of the ancient man the distinction between physical heaven (sky) and spiritual heaven was fuzzy. For example “cielo” in Spanish still means both sky and heaven.

Not only the Heaven had seven layers, the Earth also had seven layers and it represented the underworld or the Hell. Dante, for example on visiting the lowest level of Hell meets two men with their bodies split and he learns that they were Muhammad and Ali. He describes his encounter with these two wretched men graphically:

“Truly cask, by losing mid-board or cross-piece, is not so split open as one I saw cleft from the chin to where the wind is broken: between his legs were hanging his entrails, his inner parts were visible, and the dismal sack that makes ordure of what is swallowed. Whilst all on seeing him I fix myself, he looked at me, and with his hands opened his breast, saying, “Now see how I rend myself, see how mangled is Mahomet. Ali goeth before me weeping, cleft in the face from chin to forelock; and all the others whom thou seest here were, when living, sowers of scandal and of schism, and therefore are they so cleft.”

The number seven was so engrained in the mind of the ancient man that you can find it everywhere.

Seven planets or gods had been identified and the phases of the moon changed every seven days. The Bible states that God rested on the seventh day after he completed his Creation. And every seventh year was sabbatical and that the seven times seventh year ushered in the Jubilee year.

The Pagans divided their weeks in seven days each day representing a deity.

  1. Saturday which was the first day of the week (as it still is in Islamic countries) was dedicated to Saturn (Dies Saturni),
  2. Sunday to Sun (Dies Solis),
  3. Monday to Moon (Dies Lunae),
  4. Tuesday to Mars (Dies Martis),
  5. Wednesday to Mercury (Dies Mercurii),
  6. Thursday to Jupiter (Dies Jovis), and
  7. Friday to Venus (Dies Veneris). [1]

Out of this order come the familiar seven Archangels which include Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and the fallen Lucifer.

The pagan concept of the seven layer of Heaven crept into Judaism and the number seven can be found in Judaism more than anywhere else. Why? Because Midrash teaches, there are seven layers of Heaven, obviously an influence of Paganism in Judaism.

“When Adam sinned, the Shechinah departed to the First Heaven. The sin of Kayin forced it to the Second Heaven; the Generation of Enosh to the Third; the generation of the Flood to the Fourth; The generation of the Dispersion to the Fifth; Sodomites, to the Sixth; Egypt of Avraham’s day, to the Seventh … (Bereishis Rabbah 19:7)” [2]

According to Judaic scriptures, creation took 7 days; Naaman had to wash 7 times in the Jordan to be cleansed from leprosy; the Israelites had to march around Jericho 7 days and 7 times on the 7th day; they had to set aside one day in 7 for rest and worship. There was a 7-armed lampstand in the temple, etc. In the last book, Revelation, we find mentioned 7 spirits, 7 lampstands, 7 churches, 7 stars, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, 7 vials, 7 thunders, 7 plagues, 7 mountains and 7 kings. The tribulation period is to be 7 years being the last “week of years” of Daniel’s 70 weeks (Dan 9:24 ff).[3]

Muhammad did not invent the concept of the seven layers of Heaven. He merely parroted it  without understanding the Pagan origin of this idea. He wrote:

“So He ordained them seven heavens in two periods, and revealed in every heaven its affair; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars… “(Fussilat 41: 12)

This verse has nothing to do with layers of the atmospheres as claimed by the charlatan Harun Yahya. It has to do with the geocentric concept of the universe that was prevalent at the time of Muhammad. Note also that according to Muhammad, stars are lamps that are affixed to the ceiling of the lower layer of the Heaven for adornment purposes. The lower level is the sphere of the Moon. Obviously stars are not in the same layer where Moon is and neither the Moon nor the stars are in the lower atmosphere of the Earth.

In fact the concept of the layers of heaven as mentioned in the Quran is so unrelated to the layers of the atmosphere that the Islamic site www.understanding-islam.com tries to give a completely mystical significance to that verse and claims that it talks about the “spiritual heavens” which the soul will encounter after the death. [4]

“The reference to the fact that God has created seven heavens has generally been given in the Qur’an, in reply to the skepticism shown by the disbelievers regarding the possibility of life after death. … it refers to the vastness of His creation. It says that God has not just created one sky — i.e., one universe, but seven such skies — or seven universes.

It seems that the huge universe that we live in, the one whose boundaries are not yet known to man, is just one of these heavens (universes) there are seven others, of which we — with all our scientific developments — do not know anything about. Certain verses of the Qur’an clearly indicate that the whole huge mass of space around us is just one of these universes…”

The Islamic site www.pakistanlink.com quotes Maududi, the renowned Muslim scholar and the interpreter of the Quran  who says:

“It is difficult to explain precisely what is meant by the ‘seven heavens’. In all ages man has tried, with the help of observation and speculation to conceptualize the ‘heavens’, i.e. that which lies beyond and above the earth. As we know the concepts that have thus developed have constantly changed. Hence it would be improper to tie the meaning of these words of the Qur’an to any one of these numerous concepts. What might be broadly inferred from this statement is that either Allah has divided the universe beyond earth into seven distinct spheres, or that this earth is located in that part of the universe which consists of seven different spheres.” [5]

Maududi is basically telling us the clear Quran is not that clear after all. From the Ahadith (especially the Hadith of Mi’raj) we learn that the first heaven is the one that is closest to the earth. So the order begins from the earth and the highest heaven is the seventh heaven [6].

As one can see the real scholars of Islam are unable to explain the meaning of the seven heavens mentioned in the Quran and try to give esoteric significance to it. If we had to believe that the seven heavens is an allusion to the seven layers of the atmosphere then we have to assume that stars must be no more than eleven kilometers above the Earth, because as the verse 41:12 says the lower heaven is adorned with brilliant stars. The Troposphere ends at about eleven kilometers above the surface of the Earth.

Not only Muhammad, like other men of his time, believed that the sky had seven layers, he also thought that the Earth was made of seven layers too.

“Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number…” ]

In this verse the number of the earths is not in question. It assumes that everyone agrees that there are seven earths. The emphasis is on the claim that Allah is the creator of these seven earths. The reason is because just like the seven heavens, the ancient people had agreed that there are also seven layers of earth. Muhammad was simply stating what seemed to be obvious to the people of his time, but of course he was dead wrong according to the modern science.

What are these seven earths that Muhammad was talking about? If there were seven continents on Earth, Muslim apologists would not have hesitated to claim this verse is a miracle. But we do not have seven continents. Muhammad is talking about the seven LAYERS of Earth. He is talking about the same layers that were described by Dante in his Inferno. Several hadith make this clear.

Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever usurps the land of somebody unjustly, his neck will be encircled with it down the seven earths (on the Day of Resurrection). ” [7]

Down the seventh earth is allusion to the bottom of the Hell, where Dante found Muhammad and Ali with their bodies torn asunder. It is interesting to note that both Muhammad and Ali raided and killed innocent people, or exiled them and usurped their lands unjustly. Fadak was a beautiful village with many gardens that Muhammad usurped from the Jews of Khaibar after annihilating them and gave it to his daughter Fatima the wife of Ali. I am surprised Dante did not see Fadak around the neck of Muhammad and Ali when he saw them in Hell. Isn’t this another proof that even their description of Hell was wrong?

The detailed description of these seven earths is given by Muhammad ibn ‘Abd Allah al-Kisa’i:

“… There are seven earths. The first is called Ramaka, beneath which is the  Barren Wind, which can be bridled by no fewer than seventy thousand angels. With this wind God destroyed the people of Ad. The inhabitants of Ramaka are a nation called Muwashshim, upon whom is everlasting torment and divine retribution. The second earth is called Khalada, wherein are the implements of torture for the inhabitants of Hell. There dwells a nation called Tamis, whose food is their own flesh and whose drink is their own blood. The third earth is called Arqa, wherein dwell mulelike eagles with spearlike tails. On each tail are three hundred and sixty poisonous quills. Were even one quill placed on the face of the earth, the entire universe would pass away. The inhabitants thereof are a nation called Qays, who eat dirt and drink mothers’ milk. The fourth earth is called Haraba, wherein dwell the snakes of Hell, which are as large as mountains. Each snake has fangs like tall palm trees, and if they were to strike the hugest mountain with their fangs it would be leveled to the ground. The inhabitants of this earth are a nation called Jilla, and they have no eyes, hands or feet but have wings like bats and die only of old age. The fifth earth is called Maltham, wherein stones of sulphur hang around the necks of infidels. When the fire is kindled the fuel is placed on their breasts, and the flames leap up onto their faces, as He hath said: The fire whose fuel is men and stones (2:24), and Fire shall cover their faces (14:50). The inhabitants are a nation called Hajla, who are numerous and who eat each other. The sixth earth is called Sijjin. Here are the registers of the people of Hell, and their works are vile, as He hath said: Verily the register of the actions of the wicked is surely Sijjin (83:7). Herein dwells a nation called Qatat, who are shaped like birds and worship God truly. The seventh earth is called Ajiba and is the habitation of Iblis. There dwells a nation called Khasum, who are BLACK and short, with claws like lions. It is they who will be given dominion over Gog and Magog, who will be destroyed by them…  [8]

It is not hard to see these tales are nonsense. These are fairy tales that even children today would laugh at.

As it has been proven time and again, the Quran is wrong on almost all its assertions. One error is enough to prove Muhammad was not a messenger of God but a liar. We have shown that there are hundreds of errors in the Quran. Yet Muslims desperately keep looking for “miracles” to fool themselves and find validation for their  belief.

  2. narcole1919721 says:

Btw you misinterpreted fushilat samawat term with heaven doors term and layers of earths sky. there are 8 heavens but the layers of samawat are 7. and as samawat here doesnt mean the number of heavens nor the layers of earth sky. its bigger than universe or even multiverse. if to you universe is big enough, know that there are many universes bigger than this universe, and one darajat from one layer of as samawat is even bigger than these.

  3. narcole1919721 says:

Omg i cant believe ur mind. one darajat of one layer of heaven is farther than distance of universe. omg omg, read more okay…:'/ mr ali i feel so sorry…who taught you these all? i wont blame you….i wanna visit ur teachers and educate them more…

thats true. we proove that muslims always make taqiyah to defend their religion.

  5. TRUTH says:

    Dear author,

i would like to shed light into the mystery which everyone seems soo interested about in Islam. nobody knows the real truth as it is meant to be hidden in order to control the population & to deceive the servant humans. who i am? i can just say i am not from the "servant humans population". sooner or later this truth will be said by the truth/awareness prophet who will come down in the coming years to shed light on all religions. for now, i will give you truth of the Islamic quote "Allah lives in 7th Sky". well, the truth is that the 7th sky is nothing but 7th planet after earth. counting from mars to Pluto we get 6 planets, so the 7th planet is nothing else but NIBIRU.

    Thankyou

  6. lol says:

lol that was hilarious dude, do you know where are the space borders located ?, or where does the space ends ? after how many heavens ? or how many layers of sky does it take to reach the end of space ? no, no one does, even NASA doesn't. then shut the fuck up, thanks.
and btw, seven heavens here mean seven layers of sky, not seven heavenly bodies.

  7. Nafees says:

    Yes, I agree.

He is one the real bastards.

  8. cav says:

you mean islam is holding on bcos of a coincidence and if the atmosphere had 4 layers then islam would not exist? …..well thats a close call, think about why you cannot defeat islam some more

  9. cav says:

so the atmosphere having 7 layers is pure coincidence, well isnt that lucky

  10. Comment says:

,wait man i think there is no hell and no heaven, just live your life, and Hassan,u can support your religion.

  11. John K says:

Right. It's quite rare that we get Muslims who have read any books at all. It seems that the ones who really want to learn skip the comment sections and email Ali directly. Of the ones who comment, it is rare that we get one that can actually discuss Quran and Sunna. Mostly what we get here are insults, name-calling, and regurgitation of what they learned from their mothers or imams.

  12. Sanada_10 says:

How many muslims actually read that book? If they read it they could bring something new. 😉

  13. Sanada_10 says:

The lie of copy pasted material. o.0

  14. John K says:

Good point. Certainly no professional scientist has used the Quran as a guide to achieving any scientific discovery, notwithstanding the lies of the Muslims. Nor do you see hoards of scientists madly sifting through the Quran to find clues for the next great scientific discovery.

  15. Sanada_10 says:

How about everyone here play the science in religions and quote all religions you can find in the net? :p

Reverse the pattern and … nothing happens, literally nothing at all. 😉

  16. John K says:

Or conversely, the "extremists" just do what the Quran said.

  17. John K says:

Just the facts, ma'am. Just stick to the facts.

  18. John K says:

Imam's are not educated. Imam means custodian of the ummiya, or the illiterate. In other words, Muslims are not expected to know the Quran and Sunna, but are expected to learn it from the imams who are expected to know them. So don't expect an imam to know anything about critical thinking, higher textual criticism, scholarly standards, or academic rigor. Compare my blog post here:

  19. John K says:

Actually, Dr. Sina will talk to anyone, but they have to read his book first, and they have to pass a quiz to prove they have read it.

Do you know science in other religions? 😉

I have a challenge if you want. 😀

  24. Sanada_10 says:

He doesn't debate nobody coz he had too many in the past. 😉

  25. Sanada_10 says:

    8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him

The next verses are actually saying differently and of course Christian can interpret it as "resurrection" as this was in Paul's time anyway. He was saved from dead by being alive again, wasn't he?

The cup pass away means that he didn't want to suffer at first. He should run like Muhammad if he really didn't want it.

    Why call it "cup"?

  26. Sanada_10 says:

Nope, you did say that human becomes satan and that’s impossible either physically and metaphorically. They are different species.

You just said that satan is weak but how do you prove it? Human is not weak and that’s itself is already in contradiction with your comment. If we take anything you write without proof then what kind of discussion will you expect?

You got a wrong target because you replied to me and I don’t believe in Christianity. Before you talked about something just makes sure you know whom you are talking to.

Jesus as a historical person is hardly proven and this matter itself is attacking both Christianity and Islam. There are many interpretation regarding “Jesus’ words of pleading” and you should go with what the Christian belief first. As for me, I only wonder as to why Allah had made Jesus like that. I got 4 comparative points for you to deal with.

    1. Magical Jesus.
    2. Virgin birth
    3. No physical death
    4. No sin.

If he had no intention of dying then he should:

    1. Make an army
    2. Buy weapons
    3. Running away or should I say, migrating.

  27. Sanada_10 says:

Boring and repetitive, JSOP. The Quran just said what the extremist do. 😉

It would be simple if you just post the true translation and yet you haven't done so. :p

  28. Sanada_10 says:

Your prophet had mocked polytheists and cursed Christians and Jews. Your problem is clear, you don't read.

Now, back the the topic. Is there any relevancy with education?

  29. Sanada_10 says:

I didn’t say that Bible is right or real because there is no proof. I just said that Muhammad was not in the bible. This applies to Jesus too who wasn’t in the Torah. Stop assuming your opponent, please. Why muslims mostly act and think the same, eh? Must be something wrong with the factory.

If the bible is right, Islam is wrong actually but if the bible is wrong Islam is wrong too. You should learn to think logically and know your opponent first. Your words are nothing but repetition.

    Example:

    1. Bible is right about Jesus and that makes Islam as wrong about Jesus.
    2. Bible is wrong about Adam and Eve and that makes Islam as wrong too.

  30. JSOP says:

Anyway life is not measured on how much you claim to know and how much money one has it is the acts they commit

''There's nothing you can do about that, but what you can do something about is your stubborn closed mind and your unwillingness to accept the facts that prove you wrong''

You claim others are closed minded yet you claim that Allah is Satan and make other wild claims with no proof (For example a wild theory that Obama is a Muslim and Muslims are taking over the world ) with out even knowing Islam and Arabic ect

God Judges mankind not you so give it a rest saying Muslims are going to Hell if they are Muslims

'' Know that if you read Dr. Sina's book, you WILL leave Islam. No one has been able to see the facts and remain a Muslim.''

Many are still Muslims sorry to burst all of your bubbles and many have proved his ''truth'' book false

'''But don't worry. We care about you and Dr. Sina will help you get through it. So in the end, there's really nothing to fear, but your fear itself.''

This comment is a bit of a joke the way you all treat Muslims and the acts you justify against them You are all not a friend of the Muslims and anyone who doesn't agree with your hate

The Koran advances a logical system. Truth is determined by revelation. No fact or argument may refute the Koran. Logical persuasion is based upon repetition and continued assertion. Another part of the persuasion is personal attacks against those who resist Islam. The Koran advances its argument through threats against specific people and groups. If persuasion fails, then force may be used to settle the logical or political argument.

Another aspect of Koranic logic is the use of name-calling and personal insults to advance the truth. The Koran, with its poetical language and repeated threats and physical violence, bases its logic on emotions. Although its intellectual truth can be contradictory, the contradictions do not need to be resolved. Understanding apparent contradictions is a key to understanding Islamic logic. In unitary logic, a contradiction shows the theory or argument to be false. But in the Koran, a contradiction does not prove an argument to be false. What appears to be logical contradictions are statements of duality that offer two true choices, depending upon the circumstances. This is dualistic logic.

How do we know the Koran is true? Because it contains the words of Allah. How do we know that these are the words of Allah? Mohammed said they were Allah's words. How do we know that Mohammed is Allah's messenger? Mohammed reported that Allah said that Mohammed is His messenger. – CSPI

  54. Hassan says:

So you mean this is not science,do you have a better explanation for this, what else do you know
except to mock and hide the truth, take an example from Iran, what do you mean hocus pocus, the truth is these?,lol I was just wondering about the annoying mistake's in the bible, and yes, there is not even a single mistake in the Qur'an,this is the 21 century, let it also be 30 century but Qur'an will still work,ok,just prove it wrong what I wrote.simple

  55. Hassan says:

there is not such thing as violence in Islam, and the name also dictates it ISLAM=PEACE,ok,if you think there is so much mistake's in the Qur'an(astagfirullah),so just prove the following ayah's I wrote wrong, and I will believe you, talking to u feel's like I am talking to a wall.

  57. John K says:

You can drop all your witchcraft and hocus pocus. This is the twenty-first century and we have real scientists now.

  58. John K says:

It will be a long time before you get enough education to be able to communicate with academics. You are still in kindergarten and unfortunately got a bad teacher. But we can help you crawl out of your intellectual black hole. How could a man who lived 1400 years ago have known that his book would cause such intellectual black holes in the descendants of his followers?

But we understand. You are just following Quranic Logic:

  59. John K says:

Yes. The Koran does have a unique signature of Muhammad's sociopathy. It's called:

    Koranic Argument

The key to understanding the Koran is Context, Chronology (the right time order for events), and Categories, CCC. Both the context and chronology come from Mohammed's life.

Some categories are obvious, such as retold tales from the Jews. But the less obvious category is Koranic Argument. The Koran is filled with violent threats against those who do not believe Mohammed and who did not believe the prophets of Allah in the past.

The stream of violence that runs throughout the Koran gives insight into its structure and how to select the topics and their divisions. The violence is not random, but turns out to have an internal order to it. Take Hell, for instance. If you highlight the violent references to the Kafirs, you will find that there are five elements that accompany the violence:

    – A description of the violence
    – Who is threatened
    – What they did to deserve the violence
    – How they are wrong
    – Words from Allah to support the messenger, Mohammed

This structure is called the Koranic Argument. The argument goes like this: the Kafirs are wrong; Mohammed is right; and violence will come to those who deny him.

The Koranic argument was discovered by pondering the extreme violence of the Koran and noticing it had a pattern. The violence of the Koran is not random, but develops around certain themes. If colored pens are used on printouts of the Koran to mark each of the five elements with a different color, it will produce a colored "map" of the structure that can be seen from across the room.

The Koranic Argument is a natural organizational element of thought in the Koran. The verse is typically a sentence. People who use individual verses to prove anything about the Koran would never turn around and analyze Kant, Plato or Marx on the basis of sentences. No, you want to analyze thoughts, and a sentence is too small a unit for critical, systemic thought. The Koranic Argument allows easy textual analysis of thought, ideas and theme.

After giving some examples and further explanation, the section goes on to say:

The data mirrors the history of Mohammed's life. In the Meccan religious phase, the violence took the form of threats of punishment that were to occur after death in Hell. Or the mentioned violence was in ancient history, i.e., the Pharoah being destroyed because he would not listen to Allah's prophet, Moses. In Mecca the Koranic violence referred to the far future or the distant past. However, in Medina, there is much less preaching about Hell, and more physical violence against political enemies. The action of jihad replaces the rhetoric of the threat of punishment.

Approximately two-thirds of the Koran of Mecca is devoted to the Koranic Argument of "listen to Mohammed, the prophet of the only god, Allah, or you will suffer eternal torture in Hell." When Mohammed achieved political power, the religious threats became political reality. The Koranic Argument of religion in Mecca became the political practice in Medina.

Good advice for yourself. But we are here to help you get an education.

  61. John K says:

I have already given you the link to factual data about the war casualties. You are still living in Muslim propaganda la-la fantasy land. Grow up and face the facts, Hassan.

  62. John K says:

That's not necessary. If your comment has no replies, you can use the edit button.

    Before you do something, LEARN.

  63. John K says:

If you read the book, you might get a proper education. For example, Dr. Sina uses a real professional definition of a cult, which I am sure is beyond your educational level, and you have never been exposed to anything professional like this before. It would also appear that you are intellectually lazy because in spite of having been given the link several times, you have not bothered to read it. How do you expect anyone to take you seriously when all you do is make ignorant rants. Before you open your mouth and make a fool of yourself publicly, LEARN.

  69. John K says:

    Actually you should be scared.

    1) Scared that if you don't leave Islam, you will burn in hell.

    2) Know that if you read Dr. Sina's book, you WILL leave Islam. No one has been able to see the facts and remain a Muslim. You need to prepare yourself for the psychological shock and be aware of the emotional stages you will pass through as you make the adjustment. But don't worry. We care about you and Dr. Sina will help you get through it. So in the end, there's really nothing to fear, but your fear itself.

  70. enlightened25 says:

"in this time people can buy people for bombing and firing's,cant america buy?" If that was the case then what would be the point of having troops on the ground? This is absurd codawallob don`t you think if america could just hire thousands of terrorists to destabilise a country it would be doing it in the whole world? So for instance where are the daily bombings in Iran? Where are the US hired terrorists? Futhermore these people are al qaeda why if they big friends of US, why the US removed them from power in Afghanistan? No God is not with Iran if he was they Wouldn’t want a nuclear weapon which they can use to bully and terrorise their Arab and sunni Neighbours and cause havoc in the region. Don`t talk about human rights abuses by the Coalition forces in Iraq when you support a thug regime like that of the "islamic Republic" of Iran.

  79. Hassan says:

During cloud formation water can become supercooled, that is, it can get below freezing point but remain not frozen! This stage is so unstable that we can add some catalyst molecules to trigger rain. Historically humans used silver iodide, frozen carbon dioxide and some salts to trigger rain. This is known as cloud seeding.

However nature uses different material to seed the clouds. Nature uses both sea salt and land dust to trigger rain: Wind at the surface of the seas causes waves to roll. Those waves release aerosols into the air carrying the sea salt. The wind carries both the sea salt and the land dust to the clouds. The sea salt and land dust cause the supercooled water to coalesce and trigger precipitation.

[Quran 15:22] And We send the seeding winds, then cause the rain to descend from the sky, therewith providing you with water, though you are not the guardians of its stores.
How could a man who lived 1400 years ago have known that wind has a seeding role in clouds?

  80. Hassan says:

You Still understand Qur'an better than me?

  81. Hassan says:

Water on Earth actually came from outer space, particularly from ice in comets and meteors. When those comets enter our atmosphere the heat generated on entry vaporizes this ice into the atmosphere. Moslems say that this is what Allah says.

[Quran 2.164] … In the water which Allah sent down from the Heavens and brought with it life to Earth after being dead and gave life in it to every kind of land animal; And in directing the winds; And in the clouds that are enslaved between the Heavens and the Earth; [All these] are Signs for a people who comprehend.
The clouds are enslaved between the Earth and the heavens but the water itself came from the heavens (above the clouds). Here God is not talking about rain (matar or wadk in Arabic) instead God is talking about water (ma-e in Arabic).

In another verse, the Quran says that water originally came from the heavens (above the clouds) in the form of ice. There are mountains in heaven that have ice inside them; those mountains could fall on Earth making a very bright flash:

[Quran 24.43] Can't you see that Allah makes the clouds move gently, then joins them together, then makes them into a pile? Then you see rain come out from within? And He sends down from heaven mountains with ice inside them; that strike whomever He wishes or miss whoever He wishes; Its flash almost blinds you.
God sent down from the heavens (above the clouds) mountains with ice inside them!!! The clouds are enslaved between the Heavens and the Earth but the water itself originally came from the Heavens (above the clouds) in the form of ice in mountains. However today we know that this is exact because water on Earth actually came from ice in comets and meteors.

Rain hits everyone (no exceptions) however the Quran referred to mountains: "that strike whomever He wishes or miss whoever He wishes". Of course, the meteor that killed the dinosaurs was the size of a mountain. If we get hit with a meteor the size of a mountain we too will die. It is Gods' choice that we live or die.

How could a man who lived 1400 years ago have known that water originally came from ice in comets?

  82. Hassan says:

The difference in temperature, salinity and CO2 concentrations in seas cause water to separate into layers. This was only known recently. However Moslems knew about it all along:

(Quran 55.19-20) He [Allah] has made the two seas meet, between them a barrier that they don't transgress.
How could an illiterate man who lived 1400 years ago could have known that sea water can separate?

Not only light cannot reach deep waters but also the water layers down there are not flat but wavy, that is, the seas have internal waves just as they have surface waves. However Moslems also knew about this long before it was discovered:

(Quran 24.40) Or like the depths of darkness in a vast deep ocean, overwhelmed with waves topped by waves, topped by clouds: depths of darkness, one above another: if a man stretches out his hand, he will not see it! If Allah does not give light to a person he will not have light!
The Quran talked about internal waves long before it was discovered. Also, sunlight cannot penetrate more than few hundred meters into the seas. It is so dark down there that you cannot see your own hand. Moslems ask how could an illiterate man who lived 1400 years ago have known that seas separate, have internal waves and there is no light down there?

The water cover about 71% of the Earth's surface. This is also the same ratio the word "water" and word "Land" appear in the Quran. "Water" 32 times and "Land" 13 times. The ratio of "Water" to the total (Water + Land) = 32/(32+13) = 71%.

As more matter falls into a neutron star its mass increases; and as its mass increases its gravity increases. A point will be reached where gravity would have grown so much that not even light could escape, thus a black hole forms. Most neutron stars discovered today are in the form of radio pulsars. They are called radio pulsars because they emit radio waves. We can simply connect a radio telescope to a loud speaker and hear a pulsar. Pulsars sound like someone persistently knocking. Click here and listen to a slow knocking pulsar. Click here and listen to a fast knocking pulsar. So in short, we can hear a pulsar knock; and if matter continues to fall into this pulsar a black hole will eventually form. Moslems say that this is what Allah says. (The Christian Bible says that stars will fall on Earth before Jesus' second coming: Mark 13:24-30).

  87. Hassan says:

The Quran turned out to have a unique signature:

The count of chapters (Suras) in the Quran is a multiple of 19.
The count of verses (Ayats) in all the Quran is a multiple of 19.
The sum of all digits mentioned in the Quran is a multiple of 19.
The count of the word "Allah" in all the Quran is a multiple of 19.
The sum of all verse numbers (Ayat numbers) in which the word "Allah" appears is a multiple of 19.
Some chapters start with letters that have no meaning at all. When we add the number of occurrences of those letters in their chapters we always get a multiple of 19… So if anyone changed a single word containing those letters in the Quran the signature would have been broken.
God says that He assigned 19 angels to guard Hell, and He made their count "19" so that believers shall increase their faith.

Atoms are composed of electrons, neutrons and protons. And lately it turned out that those neutrons and protons are made of quarks… However 1400 years ago the Quran contradicted the common knowledge of the time. It stated that the atom is not the smallest part:

[Quran 10:61] Whatever you may be doing, and whatever portion you may be reciting from the Quran, and whatever deed you may be doing, We [Allah] do witness when you are doing it. And nothing is hidden from your Lord (so much as) the weight of an atom on Earth and in heaven, not less than that nor more but is (written) in a clear record (the Preserved Tablet).

  101. Hassan says:

After Jesus made the above mentioned prayer he was answered by God according to Hebrews 5:7 "Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared." These words clearly show when Jesus was praying strongly to God, God granted him his request. The words "heard in that he feared" (Hebrews 5:7) mean that God granted him what he requested. So the above verse shows when Jesus asked of God to "let this cup pass from" (Matthew 26:39) him, God responded to his prayer and saved him from death or crucifixion.

  102. Hassan says:

did i say u became satan physically?,and remember satan is a weak creature,Was Jesus Sent to be Crucified ?,let's see…

Peter and the two sons of Zebedee were with Jesus Christ before the elders of the people and the chief priests came to take him to be crucified. Jesus at this point talked to Peter and the two sons of Zebedee as in Matthew 26:38 "Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me." Then Jesus went a little further away from them and prayed to God as in Matthew 26:39 "And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt."

It is very clear from the above verse in Matthew 26:39 that Jesus had no intention of dying. In this verse it is shown that Jesus was praying strongly (Matthew mentions Jesus repeating this prayer three times) to have this death removed from him. Had Jesus Christ been sent to be crucified, he would not have hesitated to be killed at all.

When I raise this point in front of my Christian's, they tell me that this hesitation came from the flesh side of him (in other words he was tempted), and that his soul which is godly did not have this hesitation at all. When we look at Matthew 26:38 we see that Jesus was contradicting this idea by saying, "My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death." (Matthew 26:38). He himself said that it’s really his soul that was hesitating and not his body. These were Jesus’ own words.

  117. John K says:

Another uneducated statement. You should learn how to get information before you commit your identity to a false cause.

    Who Died In Iraq

August 30, 2010: With only 50,000 American troops left in Iraq, and none of them committed to full time combat operations, one can get a sense of what the human cost of the seven year war was. Foreign forces lost 4,735 troops (93 percent American). Iraqi security forces lost about 6,000 police and soldiers. About 100,000 Iraqi civilians died, but over a third of these were members of terrorist groups (mostly Sunni, including al Qaeda). Another ten percent were members of various anti-terrorist militias. The U.S. tried to identify as many dead enemy fighters as it could, but those numbers are currently classified. Based on information that did leak out, it's clear that the terrorist groups lost over 30,000 people. Most of the civilians were killed by terrorists, most of the terrorist deaths were caused by American troops.
    http://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htwin/20100830.a

So as you can see, Muslims killed the civilians and Americans killed the bad guys. America's time in Iraq was a brief shining moment of civilization for the Iraqi people, but now that we are gone, it is already degenerating back into Islamic savagery.

  127. Hassan says:

Yes,the Islam is the true religion of God,if that applies to only Islam, if non-muslim's commit a good deed, they will only be rewarded here,in this world, but not in hereafter, because they died without trusting in Allah and His Messenger's specially Prophet Muhammad,so non-muslim pray to Allah,Allah will give them in this world only but not here after,

Qur'an (3:85) – "And whoever desires a religion other than Islam, it shall not be accepted from him, and in the hereafter he shall be one of the losers."

So what is it can christians, jews and other monotheists get to paradise or only the muslims?

  138. Hassan says:

Allah states in Surah Talaaq (Chapter 65) verse 12: Allah is The One Who created the seven heavens, and of the earth the like thereof; His orders descend between them (the heavens and the earths).

This Quranic verse tells us that Almighty God created seven heavens, as well as seven earths. The hadith (sayings of The Messenger Muhammad – salutations be upon him) also make mention of seven earths. In several books, a compilation of hadith written over 1200 years ago, the following statement of Allah’s Messenger appears: “He who usurps a hand-span of land, that amount (of land) from the seven earths will be thrown around his neck (on the Day of Judgment).” “He who unjustly claims a portion of land will be swallowed by that portion down to the seven earths.” Both these quotations appear in the Book on Oppression and Usurpation of Saheeh Al-Bukhari.

Fakhrud-Deen Razi, the great philosophy and jurist of Islam, who died in 1210 of the Christian era (about 800 years ago) wrote in his wonderful Commentary of the Holy Quran At TafSeerul Kabeer: ‘The seven earths are similar to the seven heavens for they are like stratum, one layer on top of the other, each layer being adjacent to the other. It is also not a far-fetched theory that seven earths may mean seven planets similar to those that are in space. These are possibilities that the intellect cannot refute or reject.’

Science in its history has never ever even entertained the idea of their being more than one earth. However, recent discoveries have proven the accuracy of both theories mentioned by Imam Razi. There are two logical possibilities for the existence of seven earths. One is that the earth consists of seven layers, as Imam Razi surmised. Based on this theory, it would not be inconsistent with science to term the seven layers of earth as “seven earths” when considering that the Arabic term for earth, ardh, is used for any mass or tract of land. Recent studies in geology have proven that the earth is composed of seven zones, identified from the inner to the outer layers as follows:

    1) The Solid Inner Core of Earth: depth of 5,150 – 6,370 kilometers (3,219 – 3,981 miles)
    (2) The Liquid Outer core: depth of 2,890 – 5,150 kilometers (1,806 – 3,219 miles)
    (3) The “D” Layer: depth of 2,700 – 2,890 kilometers (1,688 – 1,806 miles) This layer is 200 to 300 kilometers (125 to 188 miles) thick
    (4) Lower Mantle: depth of 650 – 2,890 kilometers (406 -1,806 miles)
    (5) Middle Mantle (Transition region): depth of 400 – 650 kilometers (250-406 miles)
    (6) Upper Mantle: depth of 10 – 400 kilometers (6 – 250 miles)
    (7) Lithosphere Oceanic crust: depth of 0-10 kilometers (0 – 6 miles)
It must be remembered that according to science all these layers are made of different substances and material; hence the Holy Quran expression of seven earths must be considered in this context, since these are seven different parts of the earth. As stated earlier, the word ardh (earth) refers to a ‘tract of land’. The second logical possibility is that six other planets like our own earth do really exist. This, too, has recently been proven by science exploration of the universe.

On October 31, 2007 the Daily Telegraph reported in its online edition, Telegraph.co.uk:
“Britain's leading team of planet-hunters says it has found three new alien worlds that lie beyond our solar system, boosting confidence that Earth-like worlds are waiting to be discovered. The discovery of the planets will be announced by the Wide Area Search for Planets (WASP) project this week at an international conference in Suzhou, China, and have been called WASP-3, WASP-4 and WASP-5.”

The Daily Mail online newspaper reported on April 26, 2007 what is possibly the most extraordinary world to have been discovered by astronomers: the first truly Earth-like planet to have been found outside our Solar System. The discovery was announced today by a team of European astronomers, using a telescope in La Silla in the Chilean Andes. The Earth-like planet could be covered in oceans and may support life. This remarkable discovery appears to confirm the suspicions of most astronomers that the universe is swarming with Earth-like worlds.

CNN.com reported the following on August 24, 2004: In a discovery that has left one expert stunned, European astronomers have found one of the smallest planets known outside our solar system, a world about 14 times the mass of our own around a star much like the sun. It could be a rocky planet with a thin atmosphere, a sort of ‘super Earth’, the researchers said today. (All emphasis by the editor)

These few reports of recent discoveries made by modern science prove that there are planets out their in the universe that resemble our own earth. Scientists have in recent years discovered hundreds of planets in the solar system, and believe that there are still many more. They have discovered at least four planets that resemble our earth, and the Holy Quran has mentioned seven. It is, therefore, not far-fetched to believe that in years to come they may discover a few more, to confirm and corroborate with The Quran has said.

Sarsafil could not return answer for he knew only Greek astronomy. The Arabic word for satellites is tawabi means "followers", and truly a satellite is a follower of the planet round which it revolves. Similarly, the word for fixed stars is jawamimeans "gatherers" and truly a sun, or fixed star keeps all the planets revolving round it gathered together. How accurate were the terminologies of Ali?

Once a person asked Ali, "What is the distance between earth and the sun?" Ali said, "Suppose a horse runs day and night without any break from earth to sun, it would take 500 years to reach the sun." While making its calculation, it should be known that the speed of an Arabian horse is normally 22 miles per hour. The horse thus would cross 95,040,000 miles in 500 years, indicating a distance between earth and the sun. It must be remembered that the same distance between the earth and sun was commonly accepted in Europe during Renaissance. The western scientists expounded the same distance during 18th century under another notion, that if a jet plane flies from earth at the speed of 10,000 miles per hour, it would reach the sun in 11 years. This method also indicates the distance of 95,040,000 miles, vide "The Book of Knowledge" (ed. by E.V. McLoughlin, New York, 1910). The modern science however shows that when the earth is closest to the sun in the early January, the distance from earth becomes 91,400,000 miles, and when the earth is farthest in early July, the distance becomes 95,040,000 miles. It is therefore safe to conclude that the person would have asked the above question to Ali most possibly in the month of early July.

NOTE-Ali was the Son-In-Law of prophet Muhammad, and also the first successor of Prophet.

  142. livingsunnah says:

I think it's clear in Islam that there WAS a differentiation between a physical and spiritual heaven. In Muhammad (pbuh) ascent to heaven (Bukhari 1.345), he talks of gates and meeting prophets (pbuh), even at the lowest heaven. They sit (on chairs, I assume, or couches… whatever, it doesn't matter), and there is mention of trees, and walls, and "earth". I don't think anyone at that time was arguing that the sky above them was "earth", nor that there were floating figures (similar to the image of heavens being on clouds). No, Muhammad (pbuh) ascended to a timeless heaven in which the prophets (pbuthem) were alive again, and there were seven levels of these heavens. All of the Qur'anic verses you referred to above seem to indicate the spiritual heaven.

Nonetheless, there are also descriptions of a physical heaven, which can relate to the stars, the planets, etc. You didn't quote any verses that better fit the idea of the physical heaven (the sky), except for perhaps that of the stars, so I can't really comment on this any further.

Also, I want to note a logical fallacy that you're using in this article: that Muhammad (pbuh)'s teachings and the Qur'an must be false because it is based upon earlier teachings. Just because other generations and civilizations liked the number 7 does not mean that they were incorrect; as happens with other discoveries, many people can observe something and try to describe it before someone comes along and explains what they're seeing or thinking. For example, thousands of civilizations experienced earthquakes; now we can look at how they occur and contribute them to shifts in tectonic plates, however the observations (the earth shaking, cracks in the crust, etc) are still as valid two thousands years ago as they are now.

Furthermore, if you claim that Muhammad (pbuh) was simply reiterating the teachings of other people because it was easier (or he (pbuh) was ignorant), this goes against the general direction of his teachings. Look at the warring tribes at the time, and you can realize that any quest for "Arab nationalism" would have been better supported (at least, one would have assumed before any revelation) by adherence to paganism. And if Muhammad (pbuh) wanted to appeal to Christians and Jews, why deny Jesus (pbuh)'s crucifixion- a pivotal element of Christianity. Muhammad (pbuh) certainly didn't take the path of least resistance, but the path of truth. 😉

  143. John K says:

Good article. Also appreciate the background context of contemporary astronomical concepts.

Paul, however, was not talking about astronomy. His comment is more closely related to the concept of John 14:2

"In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."

Expanded context is at 1 Corinthians 15:40-42 which compares the 3 degrees of glory of the 3 heavens and the corresponding degrees of glory of corresponding resurrected bodies in an analogy of the degrees of brightness of the sun, moon, and stars:

40 There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

42 So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:
